The team of International Trade Practice of Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm, headed by Partner Olena Omelchenko, which represents the interests of Ukrainian Match Factory LLC, initiated the anti-dumping investigation into the imports to Ukraine of matches originating from the Republic of India and Pakistan. Following the review of the complaint filed by the Ukrainian producer, by its Decision No. AD-559/2024/441-01 dated 12 April 2024, the Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade initiated an anti-dumping investigation into the imports to Ukraine of goods from the Republic of India and Pakistan, having the following description: matches for household use classified under UCGFEA (Ukrainian Classification of Goods for Foreign Economic Activity) code 3605 00 00 00. "Sales revenue and profitability of Ukrainian Match Factory, the only domestic manufacturer of matches, have decreased and, as a result, the number of staff has already reduced due to the large-scale dumping of products from India and Pakistan, – Olena Omelchenko emphasized. – The situation at the factory is critical, it can only be saved by the application of provisional anti-dumping duty. This will help to keep jobs in Ukraine. We expect that the Interdepartmental International Trade Commission will soon consider the implementation of the corresponding provisional measures." As a result of conducting the above anti-dumping investigation, an anti-dumping duty may be imposed on import of matches from the Republic of India and Pakistan for the purpose of ensuring fair competition and protecting Ukrainian manufacturer from dumped imports. The anti-dumping investigation may take up to 12 months to complete. Founded in 1995, Ukrainian Match Factory is located in the Rivne region. The factory's capacity is 630 million matchboxes per year. Its products are delivered to all regions of Ukraine and abroad.
