INTEGRITES sponsors the publication of the Handbook for the National Guard of Ukraine

INTEGRITES

INTEGRITES provided financial support for the publication of “Matter of Honour” – a handbook for the personnel of the National Guard of Ukraine that explains the application of the international humanitarian law (IHL) during wartime.

Initiated by the NGU’s Main Directorate, the handbook contains practical recommendations for the military personnel, instructions on treatment of civilians and prisoners of war, and advice on how to act in various situations during the military action. The project aims to ensure better awareness of the international humanitarian law among the NGU's personnel, as well as to build up the culture of compliance with the IHL principles.

The handbook is complemented with pictures, personal stories and quotes from the soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine, as well as with drawings by the well-known Ukrainian artist Ivan Semesyuk.

Partner at INTEGRITES Oleksandr Onishchenko took part in the public presentation of the “Matter of Honour” where he described how the firm has been helping the defence forces during the war. In particular, he focused on the pro bono legal advice to military personnel and their families, to which the team of INTEGRITES dedicates over 1200 hours annually.

Oleksandr Onishchenko, Partner, head of Domestic Litigation practice: “Since the beginning of the full-scale war, INTEGRITES has been providing pro bono legal assistance to Ukrainian servicemen and women, and their families. For us, this is an integral part of our responsible attitude towards society in which and together with which we live in wartime. Supporting the release of the “Matter of Honour” is another contribution to the success of the Ukrainian resistance, as our military's understanding of international humanitarian law is about respect, humanity and civility. We are a European nation that, despite the cynicism and cruelty of the enemy, adheres to the rules of warfare."
