Hillmont Partners’ White Collar Criminal Defence practice has successfully defended their client in a case regarding the illegal seizure of corporate rights and real estate worth over USD 30 million.

In September 2025, a group of individuals, including a notary of the Kyiv City Notary District, carried out a series of registration actions, as a result of which the corporate rights and property of the client's company were re-registered to straw persons. The basis for these actions was a power of attorney, allegedly certified in Germany, by which the client allegedly authorised one of the scheme participants to represent his interests.

Hillmont Partners' practitioners conducted a comprehensive analysis of the case facts and found that the contested registration actions were carried out in gross violation of the Law of Ukraine “On State Registration of Legal Entities, Individual Entrepreneurs and Public Organisations”. Due to prompt international cooperation with the German notary, the power of attorney was proved to be forged and did not comply with the German law.

The Anti-Raider Commission under the Ministry of Justice, having considered the complaint of Hillmont Partners' attorneys, satisfied it in full. It recognised the contested registration actions as illegal, cancelled them and blocked the notary's access to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Individual Entrepreneurs and Public Organisations. As of today, the company's corporate rights and real estate have been returned to their rightful owner.

The case was led by Oleksii Miagkyi, Counsel and Head of the White Collar Criminal Defence practice, and Anatolii Voronkin, Associate.
